Solar Panels & Controllers

In some cases, wind turbines are not suitable, for example where installation is difficult. In other cases, it is better to fit a hybrid system, combining both wind turbines and solar panels. Whatever your requirement, Leading Edge have a solution for you, from large multi-panel systems for complete off-grid remote power, to single panels for boats, caravans and narrowboats.

We do not manufacture our own solar panels, as we specialise in designing and building wind turbines. We have chosen a range of different types of panel from the world's leading manufacturers, who all share our passion for supplying the best quality products possible.

  • Professional Grade Monocrystalline Panels:
For general off-grid use, we supply a range of glass-fronted solar panels using the most efficient solar cells available. These cells are designed and manufactured by Sunpower Corp. in the USA and have the best reputation on the market for producing power in even low-light conditions. Due to their unrivalled efficiency (21.5-22.0%), you get the most power possible from the most compact package.

  • Solara Marine Solar Panels:
For harsh environments and salt-water conditions, Solara GmbH manufactures their semi-flexible range of marine solar panels. These panels feature monocrystalline technology for efficiency, but they are 'encapsulated' in a special lamination process to guarantee durability in all conditions. These marine-grade panels are also fitted with a metal back plate and have a special non-slip finish to allow them to be walked on safely.

  • Extreme Solar Panels:
Where there is a chance of the solar panel being struck by large hailstones or debris, the Vision 150 panel offers you added peace of mind. Using a unique glass-glass design, the 150W Vision solar panel introduces new levels of robustness to the solar market. It is so strong you can drive over it – a truly extreme solar panel.

  • Grid-Tie Solar Panels:
In large systems, we might need to produce a few thousand watts of power from the sun, so we sometimes use large 250W solar panels. These are typically used on roof-tops or fitted to substantial metal frames. There are a number of manufacturers of these panels, although we tend to supply the higher-end ranges, such as products from Hyundai, SolarWorld, LG and so on. These panels are not available to buy online due to their large size and difficulties in shipping.
