Leading Edge started in a garden shed in 2009 with a wind turbine and an idea.
Fifteen years later, we’re a team of twelve based in a purpose-built facility on the Herefordshire-Wales border, designing and manufacturing off-grid power systems that operate on every continent — including Antarctica.
We’re not a reseller or an assembler.
Every turbine, every solar frame, every enclosure and every wiring loom is designed and built by our team, in our workshop.
That matters because it means we understand every component in every system we’ve ever delivered.
When you need support — whether that’s a replacement part, a system upgrade, or help troubleshooting remotely — you’re talking to the people who built it.
It also means we deliver the kind of reliability that our customers depend on.
Our systems run year-round in some of the most demanding environments on Earth — through winter storms, through months of low sun, through conditions that would stop most equipment.
That’s not luck. It’s engineering, and it’s the result of manufacturing everything ourselves.

Reliability first
Our customers often can’t visit their systems for months at a time. Some are in locations that can only be reached by helicopter. Reliability isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s the whole point. Every design decision we make starts with the question: will this still be working in five years, in the worst conditions this site can throw at it?
We’d rather you left with the right solution than the most expensive one. Some of our best projects have started with a customer saying “I’ve got a problem and I don’t know where to start.” That’s our favourite kind of conversation.

We’re a team of twelve, but we deliver projects that would challenge companies ten times our size. When a project needs expertise beyond our own — structural engineering, civils, connectivity — we bring in trusted partners who share our standards. You still deal with us.

Every system we build replaces a diesel generator somewhere. We’re ISO 9001:2015 certified, and our environmental policy isn’t a PDF we forgot about — it’s how we run the workshop, choose our materials and think about the long-term impact of what we make. We’re in the business of clean energy. We take that seriously.

Small team. Big capability.
Our in-house team of engineers, fabricators, technicians and designers can consult, design, specify, build and support an entire off-grid system — from first conversation to years of reliable operation. We’re based together in Herefordshire, which means the person who designs your system is down the corridor from the person who builds it, and both of them are a phone call away when you need support.

From a garden shed
to every continent.
It started with a wind turbine and a garden shed in Herefordshire.
Fifteen years, a move from a draughty portakabin to a purpose-built workshop, and deployments in over 65 countries later, we’re still driven by the same thing: the belief that reliable renewable power should be available to anyone, anywhere.
