The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 150/70 is the largest MPPT controller in the range, for solar arrays up to 70A (4000W). For larger systems, multiple BlueSolar 150/70 units can be used in parallel, offering almost unlimited flexibility. In many cases, larger systems have a back up connection (to a generator, for example) and Victron have included a programmable relay, which can be used to auto-start a generator or activate a transfer switch.

Unlike most other MPPT controllers, the BlueSolar 150/70 uses multiple maximum power points to optimise battery charging performance. Whenever a solar array is partially shaded, the maximum power point (MPP) will change, depending on the degree of shading. Most MPPT controllers pick one MPP and use it, regardless of how climatic conditions may have changed. The BlueSolar 150/70's algorithms constantly correct the MPP in order to find the optimum for the conditions.

In addition to a high current specification, the MPPT controller can manage a solar voltage of up to 150V. This means that it is possible to operate multiple solar panels connected in series if needed, for example to reduce voltage losses over longer distances between panels and controller. This high performance level is backed up by a suite of electronic protections, ensuring that no damage is done to your solar equipment.
